Back to the Basics

Let's talk about how we learned what we should eat and how that affects our bodies.  In 1990 the USDA started asking Americans to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis because they started to see that on-half of the adults in the US were overweight.

It must not have worked because I don't know too many people that remember the "Eat Five to Stay Alive" slogan, but many remember; "Coke. It's the real thing", "It takes two hands to hold a Whopper", and many more slogans.

The food guide pyramid suggests six to eleven servings from the starches food group.  The problem is that there are no suggestions given on the types of bread, cereal, rice and pasta that we should eat. So if we don't have any guidelines then we could start our day with a bagel, bowl of cereal and not realize that by lunch time we are going to be going to be tired and starving because of all the carbs we just loaded our body with.

What I am going to teach you is how to eat what your body needs to Live Young After 50.  Join my in this journey to keep our bodies in shape and healthy.  Please help me out and comment on what you have just read and let me know if this helps you in any way and keep checking back because I will have more information to help you on your journey to health.
